About this exam

“Super TET” is the name aspirants use for Uttar Pradesh’s Assistant Teacher recruitment examination for primary schools — the selection test that follows a Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET or CTET). The Commission’s own name for it is the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination (सहायक अध्यापक भर्ती परीक्षा); the advertisement for the 2026 cycle calls it the Assistant Teacher (Primary, Urban) and Assistant Teacher (attached primary, aided schools) Selection Examination, 2026.

Since 2023 it is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, which was given the selection of teachers for Basic Education Board schools and aided schools under U.P. Act No. 15 of 2023. Earlier cycles were run by the Examination Regulatory Authority, Prayagraj.

The 2026 cycle (Advertisement No. 05/2026, published 15 September 2026) covers 11,508 Assistant Teacher posts in urban-area primary schools of the Basic Education Board and 897 posts in the primary sections attached to aided secondary schools. Selection is on the merit list of one written examination of 120 multiple-choice questions for 360 marks, two hours, three marks for a correct answer and one mark deducted for a wrong one, in Hindi and English. A graduate with a recognised elementary-teacher training (D.El.Ed/BTC, B.El.Ed or equivalent) who has passed a TET for classes 1 to 5 can apply.

This exam sets different age limits for different posts. You are checked against every band below, and the result says which posts your age admits you to.

Age is counted on 1 July 2026. The 21–40 limit, and the relaxations, are for the Assistant Teacher (Urban) post in Basic Education Board schools; for the attached-primary post in aided secondary schools the advertisement sets a minimum of 21 and no upper limit, stating only the superannuation age of 62. Relaxations are for Uttar Pradesh residents only, one at a time (the most beneficial): 5 years for SC, ST and OBC, 15 for persons with disabilities, 3 years plus service for ex-servicemen, and Shiksha Mitras may apply up to 60. The training qualification and the TET pass are checked by the Commission, not here.
