About this notification
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, Prayagraj, published Advertisement No. 05/2026 on 15 September 2026 for the Assistant Teacher (Primary, Urban) and Assistant Teacher (attached primary, aided schools) Selection Examination, 2026 — the recruitment aspirants call Super TET. Online applications opened on 16 September through the Commission’s one-time registration portal.
Posts. 11,508 Assistant Teacher posts in urban-area primary schools of the U.P. Basic Education Board (requisitioned by the Board’s Secretary) and 897 posts in the primary sections attached to aided secondary schools, 473 in boys’ and 424 in girls’ schools (requisitioned by the Director of Secondary Education). The category-wise split is in Tables 1 and 2 of the advertisement, which says the numbers may change. Candidates must state a preference between the two kinds of school when applying; it cannot be changed after the closing date.
Dates. The advertisement set 15 October 2026 as the last day to pay the fee and 19 October for corrections. On 15 October the Commission extended both: applications and fee now close on 28 October 2026 and corrections on 31 October 2026. The written examination stays on 3 and 4 December 2026.
Who can apply. A graduate with a recognised elementary-teacher training qualification — BTC (now run as D.El.Ed), two-year BTC (Urdu), Special BTC, a two-year RCI-approved diploma in special education, a four-year B.El.Ed, or a two-year diploma in elementary education under the NCTE Regulations 2002 — who has passed a Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by the State or Central Government. For the aided-school post the advertisement names the TET for classes 1 to 5 specifically. Age is counted on 1 July 2026: 21 to 40 for the Urban post, with 5 years’ relaxation for Uttar Pradesh SC, ST and OBC candidates, 15 for persons with disabilities, 3 years plus service for ex-servicemen, and up to 60 for Shiksha Mitras. The aided-school post has a minimum of 21 and no stated upper limit; its superannuation age is 62. Reservation and age relaxation are for Uttar Pradesh residents only.
Fee. ₹1,000 for General, Unreserved, OBC and EWS candidates, ₹500 for SC and ST, ₹300 for persons with disabilities, paid online by card or net banking.
Pay. Both posts are at Level-6, ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400.
The examination. One written paper of 120 multiple-choice questions for 360 marks in two hours: three marks for a correct answer, one deducted for a wrong or multiple answer. The paper is set in Hindi and English, on OMR, and the merit list of this paper decides selection. Ties are broken by graduation percentage, then training-qualification percentage, then age. If the paper is held in more than one shift, scores are normalised under the Government Order of 19 June 2024. The syllabus published by the Commission for classes 1 to 5 gives the section split: general knowledge and current affairs 25 questions, reasoning 5, Hindi, Sanskrit and English 30, science 8, mathematics 16, environment and social studies 8, teaching skill 8, child psychology 8, information technology 4, and life skills, management and attitude 8.
Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification at least ten days in advance; the exam-centre district is announced ten days before the exam and the admit card three days before, on the Commission’s website.
