Minimum 18 (21 for Village Administrative Officer). 'Others' (not SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC, BCM): maximum 30 on most posts, 40 for VAO; no maximum age on several corporation posts. SC, SC(A), ST: maximum 35 (VAO 40); BC, BCM, MBC/DC: maximum 32 (VAO 40). Persons with benchmark disability up to 40/45/42, ex-servicemen up to 48/53, destitute widows up to 35/40, by post.
Qualification
Most posts: the minimum general educational qualification — a pass in the SSLC examination of Tamil Nadu (10th). Typist and Steno-Typist posts add Government Technical Examination certificates in typewriting/shorthand and a computer course; Junior Assistant in some corporations (post codes 3521, 3520 etc.) needs a UGC-recognised degree; Forest Guard with Driving Licence needs a valid driving licence. Qualifications must be held on the date of notification (para 4.2.1).

About this notification

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission’s Notification No. 11/2026 (Advertisement No. 747, dated 6 October 2026) invites online applications for the Combined Civil Services Examination-IV (Group IV Services): 6,574 tentative vacancies across 46 post codes. The largest blocks are Junior Assistant (Non Security) in the Ministerial Service 2,610, Typist 856, Junior Assistant (Accounts) in TNPDCL 422, Typist (Judicial Ministerial) 377, VAO 291, Typist (Municipal Council) 260 and Junior Assistant (Judicial) 252. Department-wise distribution will be announced later (para 3.3).

Applications are online only on tnpscexams.in after One Time Registration (₹150, valid five years). The window runs 6 October to 5 November 2026 (11:59 PM) with a correction window 9–11 November. The examination fee is ₹100 with full exemption for SC/SC(A)/ST, PwBD and destitute widows and limited free chances for ex-servicemen (two) and Backward Classes (three). Candidates must choose in the application whether they wish to be considered for Forest Guard with Driving Licence and Forest Watcher (para 1.3.3).

Eligibility: the minimum general educational qualification (Tamil Nadu SSLC pass) for most posts, with typing, shorthand, degree or driving licence conditions on specific posts; age counted as on 1 July 2026, 18–30 for ‘Others’ on most posts and no upper limit for reserved categories on most posts (para 4.1).

The written examination is on 10 January 2027, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM: one OMR paper of 200 questions for 300 marks — Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test (100 questions, 150 marks, 40% to qualify), General Studies (75) and Aptitude and Mental Ability (25). Differently-abled candidates who studied only English may opt for General English (SSLC standard) in place of Part A (para 6.2).
