Post preference planner
SSC takes your post preferences online before the result. Enter your marks and category to see where each post’s cut-off sat last year, and which posts carry conditions worth knowing before you ask for them.
What the notification says about preferences
- A post you do not list cannot be allotted to you at all. The notice is explicit: a candidate “will not be considered for a Post and Ministry/Department/Organization, if he has not indicated his preference for it.”
- Do not ask for a post whose physical, medical or educational standards you cannot meet. Once a post is allotted it is not swapped — a candidate who then fails its standards has their candidature rejected.
- Miss the preference window and you are not considered for any post in the first round, with no second chance.
- Preferences are final once submitted and are not changed afterwards under any circumstances.
The notification lists these posts followed by “etc.”, so a post without a flag has not been cleared — it has only not been named. Check the notification for the post you want.
Last year’s cut-offs are not this year’s. They move with the number of vacancies and the difficulty of the paper.
