About this exam

Warder (For Male only), Post Code 15/25, Delhi Prisons, is a Group C, Non-Ministerial, Non-Gazetted post that the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board recruits on behalf of the Delhi Prisons Department. It was advertised as Vacancy Notice / Advertisement No. 01/2025 dated 04/07/2025, with online applications open on dsssbonline.nic.in from 08/07/2025 (12.00 noon) to 07/08/2025 (11.59 pm). The Tier-I online examination was held in November and December 2025, and the Physical Endurance Test (PET) is being conducted on the Board’s schedule starting 12.09.2026.

Posts. 1,676 vacancies in all, which the Board calls tentative: 680 UR, 452 OBC, 252 SC, 125 ST and 167 EWS, with 179 reserved for ex-servicemen and 89 for Meritorious Sports Persons. The post is identified as not suitable for PwBD candidates by the user department.

Eligibility. 18 to 27 years of age, reckoned on the closing date of application, 07/08/2025, with the Board’s upper-age relaxation of 5 years for SC and ST, 3 for OBC, and for ex-servicemen the period of military service plus 3 years, up to 55. PwBD relaxation does not apply because the post is not identified as suitable for PwBD candidates. The qualification is 10+2 (Senior Secondary) pass from a recognised board or institution.

Physical standards. Height 170 cm (relaxable by 5 cm for Gorkhas, Garhwali, Dogras and Scheduled Tribe candidates); chest 81–85 cm unexpanded and expandable by 5 cm (relaxable by 5 cm for the same candidates). The user department has clarified that the lower limit of the unexpanded chest is 81 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm, which is mandatory, and there is no upper limit for chest measurement. No other relaxation is permissible for physical standards. Vision must be 6/6 without glass in both eyes and free from colour blindness; the candidate must not be bow-legged, knock-kneed, flat-footed, have varicose veins or a squint, and must be in good mental and bodily health.

Physical Endurance Test. 1,600 metres race in six minutes; those who qualify go on to a 13-foot long jump and a 3’9” high jump, with three chances for each. The Board states there is no appeal against the PET. Ex-servicemen have an age-banded standard — 6, 7 or 8 minutes for the race depending on age, and jumps that scale accordingly.

Fee. ₹100, paid online through SBI e-pay; women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates are exempt. The fee is not refunded.

Selection has three stages: a one-tier Tier-I examination, the PET and measurement of physical standards, and a medical examination. Pay is at Pay Level 3, ₹21,700–₹69,100.

  • Tier-I examination — one tier, two hours, 200 MCQs for 200 marks across five sections of 40 marks each: General Awareness; General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability; Arithmetical & Numerical Ability; Test of Hindi Language & Comprehension; Test of English Language & Comprehension. One mark a question and a deduction of 0.25 for each wrong answer. The Board held it on 24 to 28/11/2025, 01 to 05/12/2025 and 08 to 11/12/2025.
  • Physical Endurance Test and physical standard measurement as above; the user department sets the medical standard and the Board does not conduct it.

The Physical Endurance Test is being conducted at Sports Complex East Vinod Nagar, Delhi-110091, and Thyagaraj Sports Complex, INA Colony, Delhi-110003, with reporting in Shift-I from 07:30 to 08:00 AM and Shift-II from 09:30 to 10:00 AM. The advertisement is at dsssb.delhi.gov.in.
