About this exam

The Combined Examination, 2025 for Assistant Teacher (Primary) is the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board’s recruitment of primary teachers for two bodies — the Directorate of Education of the Government of NCT of Delhi and the New Delhi Municipal Council — under one post code, 802/25. It was advertised as Vacancy Notice / Advertisement No. 05/2025 on 10 September 2025, with online applications at dsssbonline.nic.in from 17 September 2025 (12 noon) to 16 October 2025 (11.59 pm).

Posts. 1,169 vacancies, which the Board calls tentative:

  • Directorate of Education — 1,044 (UR 434, OBC 278, SC 153, ST 62, EWS 117), including 55 for PwBD. The advertisement had said 1,055 with 128 EWS; the corrigendum of 18 May 2026 revised EWS to 117.
  • New Delhi Municipal Council — 125 (UR 68, OBC 28, SC 13, ST 7, EWS 9), including 6 for PwBD.

Eligibility. The qualification is set by each body’s recruitment rules. For the Directorate of Education it is senior secondary with at least 50% marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (45% under the NCTE 2002 norms), or senior secondary with 50% and a four-year B.El.Ed., or senior secondary with 50% and a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education), or graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education; plus a pass in the CTET conducted by CBSE; plus Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi or English as a subject at secondary level. SC, ST, OBC and PH candidates get up to 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks. For the NDMC it is 12th with 50% (5% relaxation for SC/ST), a two-year Diploma in Primary Education or a certificate course in ETE/JBT/DIET/B.El.Ed., Hindi as a subject in class 10, and a pass in the CTET; computer knowledge is desirable. The upper age limit for both is 30 years, reckoned on 16 October 2025, the closing date; no lower limit is stated. Relaxation in the upper limit: 5 years for SC and ST, 3 for OBC, 10 for PwBD with UR/EWS, 15 with SC/ST, 13 with OBC; ex-servicemen the period of military service plus 3 years, up to 55; and, as a one-time measure, contractual employees of the same department up to the time actually spent, to a maximum of 5 years. Only OBC (Delhi) candidates get the OBC benefit; OBC candidates from outside Delhi apply as unreserved. The pay is ₹35,400–1,12,400 (Pay Level 6), Group B, Non-Gazetted, for both bodies.

Fee. ₹100, paid online through SBI e-pay only; women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates are exempt. The fee is not refunded.

Selection is a one-tier computer-based test, Tier-I (Technical/Teaching), of 200 multiple-choice questions for 200 marks in 2 hours. Section A has 100 questions — General Intelligence and Reasoning Ability, General Awareness, Arithmetical and Numerical Ability, English Language and Comprehension, and Hindi Language and Comprehension, 20 marks each. Section B has 100 questions on the NCTE curriculum for the post, including teaching methodology. Every question carries one mark and a wrong answer costs 0.25. The paper is bilingual except the two language sections. The minimum qualifying marks — 40% for General and EWS, 35% for OBC (Delhi), 30% for SC, ST and PwBD, with 5% relaxation for ex-servicemen subject to a floor of 30% — apply only to Section B; there is no minimum in Section A, but the marks of both sections together make the merit list. Scores are normalised where needed, ties go to the candidate with more marks in Section B, then to the older candidate. Candidates state a preference between the two departments when e-dossiers are called, and allotment is by merit-cum-preference; there is no waiting panel.

Where it stands. Tier-I was held online on 16–20 February, 23 February, 26 March, 31 March, 3 April and 10 April 2026. On 13 October 2026 the Board released the marks of 83,614 of the 83,615 candidates who appeared (one candidate’s marks are in a sealed cover under a court order) — viewable by logging into the OARS account at dsssbonline.nic.in — and provisionally shortlisted 2,974 candidates to upload e-dossiers: 1,012 UR, 373 EWS, 874 OBC, 394 SC and 148 ST, plus 55, 38, 45 and 35 under the PwBD categories. The cut-offs out of 200 are 172.06 (UR), 160.95 (EWS), 160.09 (OBC), 158.01 (SC) and 139.64 (ST), and 149.73, 132.47, 152.75 and 118.81 for PwBD categories (a), (b), (c) and (c&d). The e-dossier link is open from 16 to 30 October 2026; a candidate who does not upload in that window is out, and the department preference confirmed then is final.

The advertisement is at dsssb.delhi.gov.in, the corrigendum at dsssb.delhi.gov.in and Notice No. 382 at dsssb.delhi.gov.in.
