About this exam
Advertisement 80/2026 is the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission’s direct recruitment for 553 Group C posts in the state’s departments and district offices — Junior Assistant above all, with Computer Assistant, Senior Assistant, Registrar Clerk, Computer Operator, Telephone Operator, Assistant Mineral Surveyor, Land Acquisition Amin, Ahalmad-cum- Cashier, Store Keeper, Matron and Survey Lekhpal. Online applications were open from 8 September to 7 October 2026, with corrections allowed from 12 to 14 October, and the written competitive examination is tentatively on 15 November 2026.
Posts. 553 in all, in 59 rows by department. Most are Junior Assistant in pay level 3 (₹21,700–69,100) — 55 Registrar Clerks in the Stamp and Registration Department, 42 Junior Assistants in Transport, 33 in Elections, 32 in Women Empowerment and Child Development, 26 in Higher Education, 22 each in Housing and as Assistant Mineral Surveyor, 20 in NCC, and the rest spread over the district magistrates’ offices and other departments. Level 4 (₹25,500–81,100) covers Computer Assistant (9), Junior Assistant-cum-Data Entry Operator (3) and Senior Assistant (1); Telephone Operator is level 5 (₹29,200–92,300); Survey Lekhpal (16) and the Junior Assistant at the Advocate General’s office are level 2 (₹19,900–63,200).
Eligibility. Intermediate (12th) from the Uttarakhand board or an equivalent recognised examination for every post; Computer Assistant, Junior Assistant and the other clerical posts also need Hindi typing on a computer at a minimum of 4,000 key depressions an hour, and Computer Assistant knowledge of MS Office; Store Keeper needs a one-year computer diploma. Age is reckoned on 1 July 2026: 18 to 42 years for most posts, and 21 to 42 for Junior Assistant in the Tourism Development Council, the Information Department, the Advocate General’s office and the Judicial and Legal Academy, and for Store Keeper. The upper limit is relaxed by 5 years for Uttarakhand’s SC, ST and OBC candidates and for dependants of freedom fighters, and by 10 years for persons with disabilities; ex-servicemen may deduct their service, provided they are not more than 3 years over the limit after it. A candidate must be registered with an employment office in Uttarakhand, hold the state’s domicile certificate, or have passed high school and intermediate from institutions in Uttarakhand.
Fee. ₹300 for unreserved and Uttarakhand OBC candidates; ₹150 for Uttarakhand SC, ST and EWS candidates and for persons with disabilities; nothing for orphans. Paid online by card, net banking or UPI.
Selection is by one written competitive examination and a qualifying typing test, with merit drawn from the written marks:
- Written examination — one objective paper of 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours, offline on OMR, four options a question. A wrong answer costs a quarter of the question’s marks; an unanswered question costs nothing; more than one answer marked counts as wrong, as does any use of whitener or scratching on the sheet. Minimum qualifying marks are 45% for unreserved, EWS and OBC candidates and 35% for SC and ST.
- Typing test — qualifying only.
Syllabus (Appendix-1): General Hindi, 20 marks — the language and its forms including Uttarakhand’s Kumaoni and Garhwali, Devanagari script, spelling, word structure, vocabulary, sandhi, sentences, idioms, letter writing, mass media, computing in Hindi. General Knowledge and General Studies, 40 marks — general intelligence and reasoning (verbal and non-verbal), history, geography, political science, economics, national and international current affairs, and fundamentals of computers. General Knowledge of Uttarakhand, 40 marks — its geography, history, economy, culture, biodiversity and environment, administration and current affairs.
Admit cards are downloaded from the Commission’s website, never posted; provisional answer keys are published after the examination with a ₹50 per-question objection window; document verification follows the written examination. The advertisement is at sssc.uk.gov.in.
