About this notification

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has declared the final result of the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical and Electrical) Examination, 2025. The result write-up is dated 3 August 2026, and the list of selected candidates (List-I) has been uploaded on the Commission’s website.

How the final list was prepared

The SSC first released a First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) on 9 July 2026. Candidates named in it had to attend the sliding and identity verification process in person at their Regional Office on 20 and 21 July 2026. Anyone who did not turn up was treated as absent and left out of the final result.

At that stage, 585 candidates chose the FIX option and 1028 chose FLOAT, and 118 new allocations were made against seats left empty by absent candidates. Posts were then allotted on merit combined with each candidate’s post preferences and their FIX or FLOAT choice.

Who has been selected

In all, 1731 candidates have been provisionally shortlisted against 1731 vacancies. The category-wise break-up is:

  • SC: 270
  • ST: 122
  • OBC: 432
  • EWS: 127
  • UR: 780

Within these, 10 seats went to orthopedically handicapped (OH) candidates, 11 to hearing handicapped (HH) candidates and 8 to other PwD candidates. The SSC notes that the 780 UR selections include 62 EWS, 1 SC and 439 OBC candidates who qualified at the UR standard.

The allocations cover Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical and Mechanical) posts in the Border Roads Organization, Central Water Commission, Central Public Works Department, Central Water Power Research Station, DGQA-Naval, the Farakka Barrage Project and Military Engineering Services. The write-up also gives post-wise and category-wise cut-off marks of the last selected candidate for each post.

Other points in the result

  • Fresh ranks have been given in the final result and replace the ranks shown in the FRTA.
  • The candidature of three candidates has been debarred by their Regional Offices.
  • Ties in total marks were broken first by Paper-II marks, then by Part (i) and Part (ii) marks of Paper-I, then by date of birth (older first) and finally by name in alphabetical order.
  • No reserve or waiting list has been prepared. Vacancies left by candidates who do not join will be carried forward by the departments to later years.

What selected candidates should do next

Document verification and appointment formalities will now be handled by the user department each candidate has been allocated to, not by the SSC. If you hear nothing from your department within six months of the final result, contact that department directly. The SSC has said it will not respond to queries about document verification or appointment.

The final answer keys, response sheets and detailed marks of selected and non-selected candidates are to be put on the SSC website later; the write-up does not give a date for this.
