Applications for Junior Engineer Examination 2026 closed on 22 September. About this notification
The Notice of the Junior Engineer Examination, 2026 sets out the calendar that follows the application deadline of 22 September. The last date for online fee payment was 23 September, and the window for correcting a submitted application — against a correction charge — ran from 28 to 30 September 2026 and closed at 23:00.
The Commission’s notice of 1 October 2026 gives proposed dates for Paper-I, the computer-based examination (CBE): 2 to 6 November 2026. Paper-II is still tentatively scheduled for December 2026. The dates are proposed, not final; any change will be published on ssc.gov.in.

One thing the notice makes explicit that the exam’s name does not: it is also the recruitment for Scientific Assistant in the India Meteorological Department, a Group ‘B’ post at Pay Level 6 (₹35,400–1,12,400), for which the essential qualification is a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics, with an upper age limit of 30. Candidates who opt for Junior Engineer (Telecom) are also eligible for Scientific Assistant in IMD and for Junior Engineer (Electrical), and candidates who opt for Scientific Assistant are also eligible for Junior Engineer (Telecom), each subject to the essential qualification (Notes 2 and 4 of the notice).
