About this notification
The Railway Recruitment Boards have published Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 07/2026 for the under-graduate Non-Technical Popular Categories — the 12th-pass counterpart of the graduate CEN 06/2026. The indicative notice appeared in the Employment News on 26 September 2026, and online applications run from 15 October to 13 November 2026 (23:59 hours) on rrbapply.gov.in.
Posts and vacancies (all RRBs, total 1,688):
- Commercial cum Ticket Clerk (Pay Level 3, initial pay ₹21,700): 700
- Junior Clerk cum Typist (Level 2, ₹19,900): 600
- Accounts Clerk cum Typist (Level 2, ₹19,900): 200
- Trains Clerk (Level 2, ₹19,900): 188
RRB-wise and Railway Zone-wise distribution of these vacancies is in Annexure B of the notice. A candidate can apply to one RRB only, and the choice is final; more than one application against this CEN leads to rejection of all of them.
Eligibility. 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent with at least 50% marks in the aggregate — the 50% is not insisted upon for SC/ST, PwBD, Ex-servicemen, or anyone holding a qualification higher than 12th. The qualification must already be held on the closing date; candidates awaiting final results are not eligible. Age is 18–30 years as on 1 January 2027: born not after 1 January 2009, and not before 2 January 1997 (UR/EWS), 2 January 1994 (OBC-NCL) or 2 January 1992 (SC/ST).
Fee. ₹500, of which ₹400 is refunded (less bank charges) on appearing in the first-stage CBT. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates pay ₹250, refunded in full (less bank charges) on appearing. The notice cautions that EBC is not the same as OBC or EWS. Fee payment closes 15 November 2026.
Corrections. Details other than those in the “Create an Account” form and the chosen RRB can be modified from 16 to 25 November 2026 for a ₹250 non-refundable modification fee per occasion.
Worth knowing: the Computer Based Typing Skill Test for Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist has been dispensed with for CEN 07/2026. Candidates are still expected to type adequately on a computer, and proficiency will be assessed after joining.
Selection runs through a first-stage CBT, a second-stage CBT and Document Verification/Medical Examination. The notice does not yet give CBT dates — they will come on the unified RRB website. Read the official notice before applying.
