About this notification
The Central Board of Secondary Education, on behalf of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), issued Recruitment Notification 01/2025 for direct recruitment to teaching and non-teaching posts. Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India, and NVS teachers are required to live on the residential Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya campus.
Vacancies. The notification gives post-wise and category-wise tables and calls every figure tentative — “may increase or decrease”. It does not print a grand total. Adding its tables gives 14,967: 13,025 teaching posts (including Principals, Vice-Principals and Assistant Commissioners) and 1,942 non-teaching posts. The largest blocks are PRT in KVS (3,365), TGT in NVS (2,978) and TGT in KVS (2,794).
Application window. Registration opened on 14 November 2025 and was due to close on 4 December 2025. On 4 December CBSE aligned the qualifications for several posts across KVS and NVS, so candidates could apply to both, and extended the last date to 11 December 2025 (11:59 pm). The cut-off date for age, qualification and experience stayed at 4 December 2025.
Selection.
- Tier 1 (10–11 January 2026) — a qualifying OMR screening test of 100 questions for 300 marks in two hours: General Reasoning, Numeric Ability, Basic Computer Literacy, General Knowledge and two language-competency parts. One mark deducted per wrong answer. Ten candidates per vacancy are shortlisted for Tier 2.
- Tier 2 (27–31 March 2026) — a post-wise subject-knowledge paper of 100 marks: 60 objective and 10 descriptive questions in 2½ hours, with 0.25 deducted per wrong objective answer.
- Interview of 100 marks for teaching and officer posts, with merit weighted 85% Tier 2 and 15% interview; three candidates per vacancy are called. Stenographer and Junior Secretariat Assistant posts have a skill test instead, and Assistant Section Officer, Senior Secretariat Assistant, Lab Attendant and Multi-Tasking Staff are selected on Tier 2 alone.
Corrigendum I (21 November 2025) corrected the TGT CTET requirement, restricted Assistant Engineer to Civil, and set separate skill-test speeds for Stenographer Grade I and II.
