- A bachelor's degree with at least one of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or Zoology, or a bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or Engineering.

The Union Public Service Commission has published the timetable for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination 2026. Each day has a forenoon session (9:00 am to 12:00 noon) and an afternoon session (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm):

Its result of 15 June shortlisted 1,046 candidates for the IFS Main against 80 vacancies — the notice’s breakdown is 12 SC, 6 ST, 21 OBC, 8 EWS and 33 unreserved, liable to alteration. One candidate’s result is withheld pending a court case. Screening marks and cut-offs are published only after the final result.
