UGC NET December 2026 — Applications Open till 28 October, Exam 14–19 December
NTA has opened the online application for UGC-NET December 2026, to be held in computer-based mode for 87 subjects from 14 to 19 December 2026. Applications and fee payment run from 8 to 28 October 2026 (11:50 PM), with a late-fee window (₹500) on 29–31 October and corrections on 2–4 November. Fee ₹1,150 (General), ₹600 (EWS/OBC-NCL), ₹325 (SC/ST/PwD/third gender).

- JRF: not more than 30 years as on 1 December 2026. Assistant Professor and Ph.D. admission: no upper age limit.
- Qualification
- Master's degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognised university with at least 55% marks (without rounding off); 50% for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD/PwBD and third-gender candidates. Final-year candidates and those awaiting results may apply provisionally and must pass within two years of the NET result (one year for Ph.D.-only).

The test will be held in computer-based mode for 87 subjects from 14 to 19 December 2026 (buffer days 20–21 December), to determine eligibility for JRF and Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor and Ph.D. admission, or Ph.D. admission only.
Applications are accepted only on ugcnet.nta.nic.in from 8 to 28 October 2026 (up to 11:50 PM), which is also the last date for fee payment. A late window with a ₹500 late fee runs 29–31 October, and corrections to the submitted form are allowed 2–4 November. Exam city, admit card and answer-key dates will be announced later. One application per candidate; Aadhaar verification is advised.
The fee is ₹1,150 for General/Unreserved, ₹600 for General-EWS and OBC-NCL, and ₹325 for SC, ST, PwD/PwBD and third-gender candidates, plus payment-gateway charges. Eligibility and the subject list are in the Information Bulletin; dates are tentative (instruction 9).
