About this notification
The Railway Recruitment Boards’ Centralised Employment Notice No. 04/2026 covers various posts of Junior Engineer — in civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics, signal & telecom, track, design and other streams — and Depot Material Superintendent, at Level 6 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix with an initial pay of ₹35,400. The notice lists 3,993 vacancies across all RRBs. The indicative notice appeared in Employment News on 25 July 2026, and online applications ran from 14 August to 13 September 2026.
The 1st stage CBT is common to all posts: 100 questions in 90 minutes — Mathematics 30, General Intelligence and Reasoning 25, General Awareness 15 and General Science 30. It is a screening test; candidates go forward to the 2nd stage at 15 times the community-wise vacancies of the RRB. The 2nd stage CBT has 150 questions in 120 minutes — General Awareness 15, Physics and Chemistry 15, Basics of Computers and Applications 10, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control 10, and Technical Abilities 100 — with a virtual calculator on screen. Both stages deduct one-third of a mark per wrong answer, and the minimum marks are 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, and 25% for ST.
Technical questions are set by exam group: each diploma or degree discipline is mapped to one of Mechanical and Allied, Electrical and Allied, Electronics and Allied, or Civil and Allied Engineering. Document Verification and Medical Examination follow the 2nd stage. CBT dates are announced on the RRB regional websites, now merged at rrb.indianrailways.gov.in.
