About this notification
The Railway Recruitment Boards published the detailed Centralised Employment Notice No. 09/2025 on 31 January 2026, for various posts in Level 1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix — Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Pointsman-B, and Assistant posts such as Assistant (S&T), Assistant TRD, Assistant Carriage & Wagon, Assistant Bridge and Assistant P.Way. The indicative notice in Employment News of 27 December 2025 gave about 22,000 vacancies; the detailed CEN states 22,195. Its corrigendum of 19 January 2026 moved the application window to 31 January – 2 March 2026.
Two corrigenda followed: No. 1 (7 February 2026) revised the post parameters and the railway-wise vacancy table, and No. 2 (16 February 2026) revised that table again, removing OD (PwBD) vacancies shown in error for SER, SCR and NWR and changing Metro Kolkata’s figures. Read the latest table in the corrigendum for your chosen RRB.
Each candidate could apply to one RRB only and give post preferences within it. The exam is a single-stage CBT of 100 questions in 90 minutes — General Science 25, Mathematics 25, General Intelligence and Reasoning 30, and General Awareness and Current Affairs 20 — with one-third of a mark deducted per wrong answer. Minimum marks to be considered are 40% for UR and EWS and 30% for OBC-NCL, SC and ST.
Candidates are called for the Physical Efficiency Test at three times the vacancies. Men must carry 35 kg for 100 metres in 2 minutes and run 1,000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds; women carry 20 kg over the same distance and time and run 1,000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds. Document Verification and Medical Examination follow at one candidate per vacancy.
Exam schedules, city intimations and call letters for this CEN are published on the RRB regional websites, now merged at rrb.indianrailways.gov.in. Check the site of the RRB you applied to.
