About this notification
The Bihar Public Service Commission has revised the vacancies for the Integrated 72nd Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination twice since the advertisement of 5 May 2026. Each figure below is the one the Commission’s own document states.
Advertisement, 5 May 2026. Table-I lists 22 posts across departments with a total of 1,077, and Table-II lists 3 posts with a total of 153 — 1,230 in all, the number the Commission’s notice of the same day also gives. Online applications ran from 7 to 31 May 2026.
Corrigendum, 6 May 2026. The 44 posts of Sugarcane Officer (Sugarcane Industries Department, serial 11 of Table-I) were deleted: under the Bihar Sugarcane Development Rules 2025 the post is equivalent to Assistant Director, Sugarcane Development, whose qualification and exam structure differ from the CCE. The corrigendum puts the revised total at 1,230 − 44 = 1,186.
Corrigendum, 3 September 2026. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Home Department, Police Branch, serial 2 of Table-I) was cut from 22 to 20 posts — 10 unreserved, 2 EWS, 1 SC, 1 ST, 5 EBC, 1 BC, with 6 of the 20 reserved for women — and the Commission states the total number of vacancies is now 1,187.
A caution on the total. 1,186 less 2 is 1,184, not 1,187, and BPSC has published no other vacancy change for this examination. The advertisement does say (note II) that the count can rise or fall as requisitions are received. We show no single “current total” of our own; the Commission’s latest stated figure is 1,187, and candidates should expect the final number to be settled by BPSC.
The preliminary examination, originally set for 26 July 2026, was postponed and no new date has been announced (see the separate notice). Read the advertisement and both corrigenda before relying on any post-wise figure.
